HCM City celebrates Uncle Ho 121st birthday anniversary

 

The HCM City People's Committee and HCM City Fatherland Front Committee on May 19th held a ceremony in the city in tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of his 121st birthday. Comrade Nguyen Van Dua, permanent deputy secretary of the HCM City Party Committee, delivered the speech praising the great cause and significant contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to national liberation. He stressed that  President Ho Chi Minh had guided revolutions that brought the victory in the two resistance wars against France colonialists and the US imperialists.

“Following the way the beloved President Ho Chi Minh and our party, our people had  chosen , the Party and people of Ho Chi Minh city are determined to implement his sacred  testament , building Ho Chi Minh city into a modern civilized and socialist city…” He added.

 

Comrade Dua also called on all the people to learn and follow the moral lessons of President Ho Chi Minh.

During the ceremony, 100 individuals from all circles of people were recognized as those who exemplify the tenets of the central government's "Learn and follow the moral lessons of President Ho Chi Minh" campaign. They were also praised for their excellent performance in their jobs.

 

Also in Ho Chi Minh City , the Ho Chi Minh museum held a ceremony to mark the anniversary with the participation of many people in the city. This is an opportunity for local people to have an exchange with war veterans and people who used to work with Uncle Ho. On this occasion, the museum also received objects relating to President Ho Chi Minh from war veterans and other people.

 

On the same day, the inauguration of the Memorial House for President Ho Chi Minh was held at the Pac Bo historical site in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang on the occasion of the leader's 121st birthday.

 

Construction of the house was the most important task in a project to renovate and preserve the Pac Bo historical site, which is best known as the place where President Ho Chi Minh led the liberation revolution against the French colonialists after his return after 30 years abroad.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Truong Tan Sang said the house had important spiritual meaning not only to the local people in Cao Bang but people around the country as well. It would help the young generation to be better informed about Ho Chi Minh ideology as well as the country's revolutionary history.

 

Attended at the ceremony were Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

 

Activities to mark the 121st anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday have been held in Hanoi and Vinh Phuc province.

 

In the northern Vinh Phuc province, leaders and cadres from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, People’s Council and the provincial Fatherland Front offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at his memorial in the province. Then, they visited a showroom of images about President Ho Chi Minh’s work with the provincial Party committee and local people. On this occasion, the province presented prizes to 30 literature, art and press works about the campaign to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s example in ethics.

 

In Hanoi , the City Youth Union coordinated with Hanoi Young Doctors’ Association to provide free health check-ups and medicines to young people at the Phu Thi industrial zone in Gia Lam district. This activity aimed to follow Uncle’s saying to volunteer for the health of community.

 

‘President Ho Chi Minh- a Firm Belief in Victory,’ an exhibition on the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, opened at the Exhibition Hall, 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street in Hanoi.

 

Nearly 100 photos and 50 books about the memorable milestones in President Ho Chi Minh’s life are on display at the exhibition.

 

Images of the country during its renovation process and the campaign to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples are also being shown.

The exhibition is held to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s 121st birthday (May 19) and the 100th anniversary of his going abroad to seek a way to save the country (1911-2011).

 

The exhibition, organised by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will run until June 10.

 

Uncle Ho’s birthday was also marked abroad.

 

A celebration was held at Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Village in Nakhon Phanom province Thursday with the participation of a large number of the Vietnamese community in Thailand .

 

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in China organised an incense offering ceremony to mark the 121st anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh and 100 years since he left the country to seek national salvation (June 5).

 

The Cambodian-Vietnamese Association in Phnom Penh held a ceremony on the occasion.

 

The same day, Vietnamese Nguyen Du school in Vientiane , Laos organised a knowledge contest on President Ho Chi Minh, to express respect to Uncle Ho and contribute to fostering Vietnam-Laos relations.

 

Major Laos newspapers on May 19 posted a number of articles and photos highlighting President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary morality and his great service.

 

The Paxaxon, the organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, ran an editorial in praise of his teachings as well as his support for the Lao revolution, while the Vientiane Mai (New Vientiane), ran an article titled, “President Ho Chi Minh lives forever in our revolutionary cause”.

 

Entitled “Ho Chi Minh Though and Thrift,” the Lao Phatthana of the Lao Press Association introduced Uncle Ho’s teachings on the practice of thrift.
