The Hanoi People’s Committee has agreed to build a 1,000-bed general hospital at Dai Thinh Commune in Me Linh District to reduce the pressure on the capital’s central hospitals.

According to the Hanoi Department of Health, the hospital will be built on 12 hectares of land at an estimated cost of VND3 trillion (US$150 million).

The project will be divided into two phases, with 500 beds in the first phase to be ready in three years. The second phase will be ready by 2015.

Once completed, the hospital will service patients from Dong Anh, Soc Son, Dan Phuong and Phuc Tho Districts and the neighbouring provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho.
