Hanoi police claimed to have bust a drug trafficking gang on October 19, said to be smuggling large quantities of drugs from Son La, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen provinces and also from Hanoi.

Police in Tu Liem District of Hanoi reported that they had arrested five people associated with the drug trafficking gang. The five arrested included Trinh Van Bach from Lang Son Province, Luong Duc Chinh from Cao Bang City, Tran Luu Thuy and Lieu Thi Cuc from Thai Nguyen Province and Nguyen Thi Huong from Hanoi.

While investigating in mid August 2011, police found leads to Trinh Van Bach from Lang Son Province, who was transporting drugs illegally from Son La, Lang Son and Thai Nguyen Provinces and from Hanoi.

Police suspected Bach for a long time but in between he switched to gold mining in Kon Tum and Dac Lak Provinces. Then by mid August 2011, he returned to Lang Son Province and got in touch with Chinh, Thuy, Cuc and Huong.

They set up a five-member drug trafficking ring and smuggled 150 cakes of heroin within a short span of time.
