The Beltway Road No.3 around Hanoi and the Thanh Xuan intersection opened to traffic February 9, the Thang Long Project Management Unit, the road builder, said.

A view of the completed section of the Beltway Road No 3.
The 10 kilometer beltway runs from Mai Dich area to Phap Van area, connecting industrial and urban zones in Bac Thang Long – Noi Bai with those in Linh Dam and Dinh Cong.
It has been built to ease inner-city transport pressure.
Work on it was earlier suspended and the deadline for the project extended twice due to the rising costs of building materials, slow land clearance, and cash crunch.
It was begun in 2001 at an estimated cost of VND820 billion ($51.2 million). But the cost has since ballooned to VND2.2 trillion.
Opening the road has eased traffic jams in the Thanh Xuan area and reduced the pressure on Kim Giang road, the project management unit said.
After Tet, some remaining works like paving the sidewalks and planting grass would be completed, it said.
