Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc who also presides as chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety has instructed Ho Chi Minh City authorities to find measures to limit increase in private vehicles and submit a report for the same.
Accordingly, he tasked the Ministries of Transport and Finance, and other relevant ministries and departments in HCMC to work out a feasible, effective and functioning plan.
Deputy PM Phuc also instructed the city to crack down on illegal motorcycle racing and find ways to curb its menace.
He ordered the city to improve and develop the public bus transport system and mobilise resources to build more bus stops in inner city areas.
City authorities should also step up relocation of ports, coach stations, production units, hospitals and schools from the city centre and coordinate with relevant departments to prevent them from expanding.
