In the cabinet meeting that begins today, January 4, officials will discuss foreign investment in Vietnam in the 20 years after the Law on Foreign Investment took effect as well as Vietnam’s two-year admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
In the two-day meeting, the Government will also discuss implementation of the government’s working statutes in 2009 and the work schedule for 2010.
The Government will also analyse significant reports on the social-economic development plan 2009 and the resolution to prevent economic slowdown, maintain economic growth and ensure the social welfare.
Foreign investment in Vietnam will also feature in the meeting, including the an overview of the last 20 years since the Law on Foreign Investment took effect and the situation after two years joining the WTO, as well as implementation of the plan to attract and use official development assistance (ODA) in 2006-2010.
Periodic reports on inspection, solving of complaints and denouncements and combating corruption, administrative reforms, the compilation and submission of the government’s bills, ordinances and Vietnam’s implementation of international commitments in 2009 are also on the agenda.
