A good-hearted taxi driver was applauded for rescuing a newborn baby in Ho Chi Minh City.

Managing board and employees of Mai Linh taxi company August 25 presented the merit certificate and gift worth VND1million to taxi driver Nguyen Thanh Hung, who saved a newborn bay on August 19.

Hung said while parking the car nearby a dumping ground in Do Nang Te Street in District 6, he suddenly heard a crying from the waste basket. Coming near the dustbin, he discovered a newborn baby with full umbilical cord to be wrapped up in a trouser in tatters. The baby was put in a nylon bag.

The kind-hearted driver quickly asked clothes of a construction worker to wrapp up the baby and took the baby to nearest medical hospital with a female worker who is working on the spot.

The baby’s health condition is now stable and he is being taken care by medical staff of the Ob-Gyn Hung Vuong Hospital in District 5.
