Having triumphed over 2,000 entrants in the regional rounds, around 40 young women at home and winners of beauty contests abroad will spend twelve days in and around the resort on Tre Island, just offshore from Nha Trang.
Though every contestant is vying for the main title, there are also the Miss Photo, Miss Sea, and Miss Tourism titles at stake.
The compulsory categories will be ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress), swimsuit and casual wear. The judges of the contest will whittle the contestants down to the top five for the climax on September 2, to be broadcast live on Viet Nam TV channels including VTV3 and VTV4.
The Miss Global Vietnamese prize is US$20,000 and a trip at home or abroad; the runner-up will get US$8,000, and third place will take home US$5,000. There are also US$1,000 prizes for the winners of the Miss Photo, Miss Tourism and Miss Sea titles.
Nguyen Thi Huong Giang, the only Vietnamese contestant from the Czech Republic, returned home for the 2007 Global Vietnamese Pageant. |
