Vietnam's military-run telecom group Viettel has launched a promotional program on August 21 themed ‘Student of Academic Year 2012’ in which the group is offering attractive gifts such as mobile phones to fresh year students, in particular those who came first in their entrance examination for universities and colleges.

Viettel’s promotional program will be on until October 31, which is aimed to encourage new students after their hard preparation and strive in sitting for the entrance tests.
This is an annual program organized by Viettel since 2008, but this year the telecom group has expanded its program to cover more than 800 universities and colleges in the country, an increase of 300 schools.
Anyone who has missed the program at schools can go to Viettel’s agents to register or contact friends who work for Viettel.
In addition, any student who registers as a subscriber of prepaid mobile phone plans like Student or Sumo Student or Dcom Student can until October 31 also participate in a lottery, and if lucky, can win a HTC mobile phone worth VND11 million ($528).
The telecom group is striving to raise the number of mobile phone subscribers to two million by the end of 2012.
