Delegations of the Party and State offered incenses and flowers to martyrs who laid down for the country.
Writing in the memorial book, former State President Truong Tan Sang expressed his deep gratitude to martyrs and affirmed that the Party, State and people will always remember the great sacrifices and contributions by Vietnamese military and people to the protection of the northern border during ten years.
Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery has 1,782 graves of martyrs, including 1,500 graves of martyrs who laid down in the fighting to protect the northern border.
The delegation also offered incenses to heroes and martyrs at the high point 468 near the Thanh Thuy International Border Gate. This area saw a large number of martyrs whose remains have not been found yet.
On the day, the former State President and provincial authorities handed over 44 Red Cross houses to disadvantaged military veterans who participated in the fighting to protect the northern border.
The delegation then attended the inauguration of new houses of two war veterans, Ngo Van Me in Ngoc Duong ward and Chu Viet Hung in Nguyen Trai ward.
