Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed to broaden the list of border gates that conduct value add tax refund besides Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai International Airports from July 1.
The five border gates include Da Nang and Cam Ranh International Airports, Khanh Hoi, Da Nang and Nha Trang International Seaports.
The Ministry of Finance is responsible for issuing documents to guide relevant agencies to implement the program.
The Ministry of Transport will arrange space at the airports and seaports to examine goods, invoices and VAT refund statements. The State Bank of Vietnam will choose a commercial bank to work as VAT refund agent.
The VAT refund pilot program was launched in July 2012 and lasted until June in the following year to give foreign visitors VAT refund on purchased commodities that they want to carry back when leaving Vietnam.
