First center to promote scientific cooperation established

The National University of Ho Chi Minh City has established the John Von Neumann Excellence Center (JVN), the first of its kind in Vietnam, to serve educational cooperation between master and doctoral science programs in both study and research.

JVN aims to promote all scientific activities and cooperation amongst three main fields including systematic science, knowledge and information between the University of Science HCMC and famous institutes and universities worldwide. In addition, the center hopes to attract overseas Vietnamese scientists to devote their contributions to the country’s growth.

The first remarkable cooperation will pair the Paris Institute of Technology with the University of Science HCMC, in a joint program on trainings on IT & Communications. The participants will study academic programs in English for two years. Admission to the program will be limited to 40 trainees.  Upon graduation, they will earn degrees: one issued by University of Science HCMC and another issued by Paris Institute of Technology.

Moreover, the Center has a Master program of Quantitative Finance Calculation, which undertakes research projects on acquiring funding from investors and banks to develop human resources.

Professor Dr. Duong Nguyen Vu, former Senior Scientific Advisor of the Experimental Center of European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, has been appointed as Director of the JVN Institute of Vietnam National University.
