Efforts made to ensure textbooks, notebooks for flood-torn areas

It is estimated that losses caused to the education sector the central provinces Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh by floods in the past two weeks is VND700 bllion (US$35 million), the Ministry of Education and Training said Tuesday.

All textbooks, teaching and studying tools have been swept away by the flood. Many schools and equipments have been seriously damaged, according to a ministry report.

Vietnam Education Publishing House has printed more textbook for kids to return to schools after flood.

The ministry has called for local and foreign individuals and organizations to support the country’s education sector, and help children in danger of dropping out of school to continue their study.

The sector ensures that all students will have enough textbooks ready for coming back to schools. Not any child flood victims will leave school, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia said.
