Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh joins AMM Retreat

In the margin of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMM Retreat), Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh yesterday had a meeting with Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.

At the reception, Singapore pledged to support Vietnam in developing a roadmap of industries transformation as well as improving capabilities of digital management and enterprises. 

The leaders agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation as well as enhance capacity to ensure food hygiene and safety for Vietnamese agricultural products, and create more opportunities for the products to enter the Singapore market and boost Singapore's investment projects in high technology sector including construction of information technology parks.

Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh strongly affirmed that Vietnam supports Singapore to well complete its role as Chairmanship of ASEAN 2018, and agreed on the theme of ASEAN on self-improvement and creativity development proposed by Singapore.

At the discussion, the two ministers agreed that ASEAN needed to enhance negotiations on a code of conduct (COC) in the East Sea.

Vietnam always respects strategic partnership relations with Singapore; and desired both sides needed to strengthen regional cooperation and create mutual belief, said the Vietanmese Foreign Affairs Minister.

Within a framework of ASEAN Defense Minister's Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh yesterday met Singapore Defense Minister Ng Eng Heng and Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan.
