Tens of thousands of high school students in Ho Chi Minh City participated in a First Aid School Competition for the academic year 2011-2012, organised by the City Red Cross on February 20.

Students were required to deal with many common emergency situations which needed first aid such as how to stop bleeding, fix broken bones, tend to wounds and transfer patients to hospitals safely.

Last year, the students had conducted similar exercises quite successfully and had handled first aid situations like bandaging wounds, stopping bleeding in schools and streets, before transferring victims to hospitals for further treatment.
