The Ha Tinh Association of Victims of Agent Orange and sponsors from the province and Ho Chi Minh City September 3 offered 164 gifts and scholarships, worth nearly VND700 million (US$35,000) to the central province’s children affected by Agent Orange and disadvantaged children.

On this occasion, the provincial People Committee also received VND500 million (US$25,000) donated by Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange.
In addition, two companies from Ho Chi Minh City also donated more than VND5 billion ($250,000) to build a center for children affected by Agent Orange in the province.
To date, AO/dioxin has affected three million Vietnamese.
Since 2004, local and international individuals and organizations have donated VND150 billion ($7.5 million) in cash and product donations to help AO/dioxin victims.
The collected money has been used to build and repair more than 1,400 houses, create community centers, provide scholarships and provide medical aids to victims.
