The Central Power Corporation and the Department of Industry and Trade in the Central Highland Province of Kon Tum plan to upgrade the 110kv electric cable line Pleiku - Kon Tum.

The present cable line is facing an overload and as a result unable to meet the electricity demands of the area. Plans are on to replace the nearly 32 kilometer cable with a more heat-resistance wire ACCC 245.

The project is estimated to cost VND30 billion (US$1.4 million), which will be mobilized from hydropower plant owners who will need to use the wire.

The project will begin construction this April and is expected to be fully operational by June.
