Award-giving ceremony held to honor Olympiad Math winners

An award-giving ceremony was held in Labor and Cultural House in the central province of Quang Ngai on April 12 to honor Olympiad Math winners.

An award-giving ceremony was held in Labor and Cultural House in the central province of Quang Ngai on April 12 to honor Olympiad Math winners.

The year contest draws more than 700 students from 85 universities and colleges nationwide. Examinees sat for Algebra and Calculus tests.

325 prizes were given including 11 special prizes for top students or students who won first prizes of both tests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Nguyen Huu Du, Chairman of the Math Association Vietnam said the Olympiad contest is not only an opportunity to discover gifted students for the country but also contributes to raise math teaching quality in schools.

Professor Bui Van Ga, deputy education minister, highly assessed the contest expressing that more and more gifted and promising mathematics students will be discovered for the country’s math teaching.

The Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association, Math Association Vietnam and Pham Van Dong University held the event.
