This year’s event themed “Cinema-Integration and Development” is considered as the largest-ever event in the country.
Submissions are films which must not have participated in any other international competition at any festival in Asia prior to the term of the 5th HANIFF.
A series of activities will be held during the event, such as HANIFF Campus and Film Project Market, exhibition on filming locations in Vietnam, seminar on Polish and Iranian cinema, outdoor screenings, art performances and more.
The event is a venue for the celebration and betterment of both Vietnamese and international cinema as well as giving a chance for local and foreign film makers to meet, exchange experiences and thoughts with each other.
The organization board expects to receive around 1,200 delegates, including reputed international jury members to participate in the film fest, said Ms.Ngo Phuong Lan, Director of the National Cinema Agency and chief organizer of the film festival.
Vietnamese films, including Thien menh anh hung (Blood Letter ) and Dap canh giua khong trung (Flapping in the Middle Of Nowhere) won the Special Jury Award For Feature Length Film in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The movie, Mot thanh pho khac (Another city) got the Special Prize in 2016.
