To commemorate the 55th anniversary of Agent Orange Disaster in Vietnam, The Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA), the chemical army, the Army Library and the Vietnam Army History Museum organized photo exhibition themed “ Agent Orange – Common Sense and Justice yesterday in Hanoi.
With four main themes including Disaster and Pain, Efforts to overcome difficulties, Kind Embrace, Desire to rise, the exhibition displayed over 400 photos, documents and items reflecting losses which Vietnamese people suffered and the government’s and the Party’s efforts in helping Agent Orange victims and samples of Agent Orange victims and families that have been striving for a better life.
At the exhibition, Deputy Head of the Politic Department Major General Le Hien Van said that the US troop had used various chemicals including Agent Orange in the wartime in Vietnam cam/dioxin. Around 4.8 million Vietnamese people were exposed to Agent Orange and over 3 million people suffered disease and disabilities.
So far, hundreds of thousands of people died of the chemical and hundreds of thousands of others struggled with life-threatening diseases.
Next generations of Agent Orange victims are also suffering innate disabilities and many families are meeting a difficult life.
Through exhibition, viewers can understand more about the danger of Agent Orange/ Dioxin and the pain AO are suffering so that viewers can support victims by their real acts.
In addition to photos and documents, the exhibition also exhibits the scientific magazine and articles on the chemical war written by scientists in and out Vietnam.
