The Ministry of Construction has announced that 385,000 houses have been built for the impoverished people in the country.

The ministry said that after two year of implementation of a program to support disadvantaged households, to date around 385,000 poor households have received free housing, accounting for 78 percent of needy people who need housing support.

Leaders from the northern provinces of Ninh Binh, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen and the highland provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Dak Nong say they have covered their quota of free houses for poor households.

Other provinces, like the northern province of Hung Yen, the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau and the highland province of Gia Lai are still in the process.

The ministry is continuing its efforts to promote the program and has recently asked the provincial People’s Committees to seek more capital for the program. Provincial leaders have been asked to raise capital from all available sources.
