The plant worth VND80 billion ($3.5 million) with capacity of 150 tons a day covers 15 hectare. It utilizes Japanese Sankio incinerators.
The plant invested by the Vietnam Energy Environment Industrial Technology Company Limited is scheduled to complete after 12 months.
According to the Department of Construction in Tra Vinh Province, household waste had been previously collected and buried at landfills with a daily amount of over 250 tons a day.
Nevertheless, landfills are overloaded, therefore it has made the environment seriously polluted. Hence, once the plant is operational, it will handle garbage in Tra Vinh city and neighboring districts such as Chau Thanh, Tieu Can, Cang Long and Cau Ke.
At present, Cau Ngang, Tra Cu and Duyen Hai districts and Duyen Hai township are adopting several preferential policies to call for investment in household solid waste treatment factories in a bid to protect the environment.
