Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index extended loss to third trading session on July 4 as investors dumped shares heavily at the end of the trading session.
The gauge of 302 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange dipped 0.57 percent, or 2.36 points, to close at 410.73 points.
On the benchmark, 73 stocks rose, 166 dropped, while 69 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse fell by 36 percent in volume, and 47.7 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 27.63 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND354.92 billion.
Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) was the most active share in volume with 1.66 million shares changing hands.
It was followed by Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) with 1.31 million shares.
Tan Tao Investment - Industry Corporation (ITA) finished third with 893,990 shares traded.
Long Hau Corporation (LHG) and OPC Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (OPC) both weakened 5 percent to close at VND15,200, and VND32,300 respectively.
Sao Mai Construction Corporation (ASM) marched south for three straight days, giving up 4.96 percent to close at VND11,500.
Dai Thien Loc Corporation (DTL) adjusted 4.86 percent to close at VND13,700.
House Vietnam Joint Stock Company (NVN) and Tai Nguyen Corporation (TNT) both revived 5 percent to close at VND6,300, and VND4,200 respectively.
Freight Forwarding & Trading Joint Stock Company (VNL) regained 4.92 percent to close at VND12,800.
Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (AGD) emerged 4.81 percent to close at VND47,900.
The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – shortened 1.53 points, or 0.31 percent, to end at 485.42. Among its 30 members, 5 stocks gained, 13 lost, and 12 remained unmoved.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north sank 1.63 percent, or 1.13 points, to close at 68.08 points with 63 winners, 166 losers, and 61 stocks treading water. Around 25.05 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND225.7 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares recovered 0.28 percent, or 0.1 points, to close at 36.44 points. A total of 302,885 shares changed hands at VND2.28 billion.
