Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index advanced for two consecutive trading sessions on May 10, however, liquidity dropped to the lowest level in the past two years.
The shares of 284 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange strengthened 0.8 percent, or 3.82 points, to close at 481.29 points.
Among the index members, 108 increased, 101 reduced, while 80 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse fell by 5 percent in volume and 9 percent in value over the previous trading session as 17.97 million shares changed hands at a value of VND366 billion.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, was the most active share in volume with 808,200 shares changing hands.
Sai Gon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) took the second rank with 614,480 shares changing hands.
Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Joint Stock Company 584 (NTB) followed with 554,900 shares.
Vinacafé Bienhoa Joint Stock Company (VCF) leaped forward for three consecutive days, accelerating 5 percent to close at VND52,500.
Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) rebounded 4.88 percent to VND4,300.
Materials - Petroleum Joint Stock Company (COM) edged up 4.76 percent to close at VND33,000.
VitranschartI Joint Stock Company (VST) tumbled 14.77 percent to VND7,500. The company will pay dividends for the year 2010 to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 12 percent.
Société De Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT) shrank 5.79 percent to close at VND11,400. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders at a ratio of 8 percent on June 1.
Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS), Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB), and Viettronics Tan Binh Joint Stock Company (VTB) they all sank 5 percent to VND11,400, VND57,000, and VND9,500 respectively.
The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north dipped 0.41 percent, or 0.34 points, to close at 82.94 points. Trading volume significantly dropped over previous trading session as 24.9 million shares worth VND347.3 billion changed hands.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares cut 0.03 points to 35.25 points this morning. A total of 566,511 shares changed hands at a value of VND7.09 billion as of 11:15 am local time.
