Vietnam’s Cancer hospital, Curie Institute cooperate in treating cancer

Vietnamese Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and French Minister for Solidarity and Health Professor Agnès Buzyn yesterday attended the signing ceremony between the National Cancer Hospital and French Curie Institution in Hanoi.

The two side will cooperate in training, patient treatment project, annual seminar on cancer treatment methods, exchange scientific researches. All activities will be organized in Paris or Hanoi by online.
Director of the National Cancer Hospital Dr. Tran Van Thuan said that the cooperation will open new chapter in the relation between two sides as well as in treating and improving cancer treatment.
Simultaneously, an exhibition of picture and the life of female scientist Marie Sklodowska-Curie is taking place from November 2 to 9. This is an important activities during the visit of Curie staffs in Vietnam’s Cancer Hospital and to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic ties.
According to Globocal’s figure, there have been around 18.1 million fresh cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer-relating deaths in the world in 2018. Vietnam has had 164,671 fresh cancer cases and 114,871 cancer-relating deaths and more than 300,000 people are living with cancer.
Most of Vietnamese cancer patients are diagnosed and receive treatment in late stage. Therefore, cancer prevention is a big challenge for Vietnam’s health sector.
