The Vietnam Anti-Corruption Initiative Program 2013, co-organized by the Government Inspectorate, the World Bank and other donors, supports innovative ideas to minimize corruption and strengthen transparency.
The Initiative Program 2013 with the theme ‘More Transparency, Integrity and Accountability-Less Corruption’ identifies and directly supports through Innovation Grants small, start-up, innovative development proposals that deliver results, which can then be expanded or replicated.
The program creates opportunities for local innovators to meet, exchange ideas, share information and network with other people responding to the same concerns.
The program will comprise of two major events. One will be an ‘Innovation Competition’ which will be an open competition in which the jury will process start-up funds awarded to organizations proposing the best innovative and feasible ideas, which meet the requirement of this competition in content, criteria and format with a view to strengthening transparency, integrity and accountability for an effective fight against anti-corruption.
The second is ‘Knowledge Exchange’, a forum for sharing knowledge on the legal framework for anti-corruption, the current progress, practical experiences on anti-corruption as well as initiatives relating to strengthening transparency, integrity and accountability for effective anti-corruption with focus on developing a service-oriented public administration, strengthening public service ethics, strengthen transparency, and the right to access information along with greater accountability.
An amount of VND6 billion (US$288,000) will be used to fund at least 20 anti-corruption schemes. Selected initiatives should be innovative, efficient, practical, and applicable.
Co-sponsors of the program are the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), Irish Aid, the Embassy of Sweden and the Department for International Development (DFID-UK).
Speaking in a press conference at the program’s launch, Tran Duc Luong, Deputy Chief Inspector of the Government Inspectorate, said that during this period the government will promote transparency, integrity and accountability to be able to fight corruption in Vietnam.
