Vietnam, Japan strengthen mutual defense cooperation

The seventh Vietnam-Japan Defense Policy Dialogue was held in capital city of Hanoi yesterday.

Deputy Minister of National Defense, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Japan's Vice Minister of Defense for International Affairs Nishida Yasunori co-chaired the event. 

The two sides evaluated the results of Vietnam-Japan defense cooperation since the sixth dialogue session in July, 2018 so far and the direction of international cooperation within bilateral and multilateral frameworks in the next years, aiming to bring the two countries’ in-depth and effective defense cooperation

On the same day, Nishida Yasunori led a delegation of Japan's Ministry of Defense to meet Politburo member, Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich.

At the receipt, the Vietnamese senior leader hoped that both sides would continue to effectively develop mechanisms of the defense policy dialogue and existing cooperation, to study building and supplement of new cooperation mechanisms which would contribute to promote effectively agreements between the two countries’ leaders, defense ministries.

Through the dialogue, the two countries’ two militaries are expected to develop continuously their cooperation in a depth and effective manner.
