The Vietnam Food Administration has taken samples of products of URC Vietnam for tests after unconfirmed information revealed that products of URC Vietnam contain high levels of lead,.
Head of the Ministry of Health’s Food Administration of Vietnam Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said that he sent an order to the sub-division in Hanoi to take samples from different assembly lines for tests.
Additionally, health inspectors also took samples of Citric acid from the URC Vietnam’s factory for testing lead content. Test result will be soon publicized.
On the same day, a group of inspectors from the Ministry of Health conducted a scrutiny at the company’s plant over food safety regulation.
Deputy Chief Inspectorate Nguyen Van Nhien said that the inspectors will liaise over food safety matters in the plant and then report to the Ministry of Health’s Chief Inspectorate.
The annual inspection is a part of this year plan. As per the plan, the health inspection department is seeking approval from the Ministry of Health on the list of firms to be under the radar in 2016, which include Coca-Cola Vietnam, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage, Wonderfarm and URC Vietnam Co. Ltd.
