Investment policy in the project for the period 2017-2020 was approved by the National Assembly.
Some VND118,700 billion ($5 billion ) is the total cost of eleven sub-projects of the North-South expressway project with the length of 654 kilometer. Of these, the state budget will finance three projects while eight will be implemented under the form of Public-private partnership (PPP).
The Ministry of Transport reported that it has approved 11 projects and planned to select 11 sub-contractors to promptly complete bidding documents. The Ministry has opened bidding for Cao Bo- Mai Son and Cam Lo – La Son stretches; it is scheduled that contractors will be chosen in December.
Moreover, the Ministry is valuing contractors' competence for My Thuan 2 project, urging the project's management board to submit bidding plan for PPP projects.
Regarding site clearance for the construction of the eastern section of the project, the Ministry said the highway will be built with four lanes. It has sent papers to localities, where the sub-projects run through, to inform them of land area expected to be used for the expressway's construction and asked project management boards to work with local administrations.
He lauded relevant agencies’ efforts in carrying out the project in the past time. In the future, competent agencies should speed up technical designs and land clearance as scheduled.
For projects with complicated techniques, the Ministry of Transport must choose good local or international consultation firms.
In conclusion of the working session, Deputy PM Dung highlighted the significance of the North-South expressway project to the country’s socio-economic development.
Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance and Construction must take heed to inflation provision according to regulations to speed up implementation progress.
