According to Forbes, the estimated asset of the self-made billionaire is around USD2.6 billion, increased from last year’s figures of USD1.98 billion.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is Chairperson of Sovico Holdings, President & CEO of Vietjet, as well as Standing Vice Chairperson of HDBank. Madam Thao holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (“Ph.D.”) in Economic Cybernetics and a bachelor’s degree in Credit-Finance.
In 2017 and 2018, Madam Thao successfully listed Vietjet and HDBank on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE). The market capitalization of both companies accounted for billions of dollars. She is now the 2nd richest person in the stock market of Vietnam.
The No.1 in Forbes’s list is German Chancellor – Angela Merkel, followed by U.K. Prime Minister – Theresa May, Managing Director of International Monetary Fund - Christine Lagarde and CEO of General Motors – Mary Barra.
The first female president in 226 years of operation of New York Stock Exchange since establishment in 1792 – Stacey Cunningham – is also in the list at 27th.
