US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney will attend bilateral and multilateral activities of President Trump in Hanoi.
On February 26 afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh had talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during which the two sides agreed to prioritise the exchange of delegations, especially high-level ones, in 2019, looking toward to the celebration of the 25th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2020.
Vietnam and the US will continue regarding trade and investment cooperation as a driving force for the bilateral relations, while enhancing cooperation in education-training and people-to-people exchanges.
In the morning the same day, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un arrived in Hanoi to attend the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit on February 27-28 and pay an official friendly visit to Vietnam.
The second summit between DPRK and USA leaders in Hanoi is considered an important political and diplomatic event of Vietnam in 2019, a vivid manifestation of Vietnam’s policy of being a friend and trustworthy partner of the international community. During only a short time, Vietnam has completed logistics, security and protocol preparations for the important international event.
Via the event, Vietnam wants to prove itself as a trustworthy partner and a safe and friendly destination for a sustainable peace.
