According to director of the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center Hoang Duc Cuong, it is forecast to cause heavy rainfall in the southern region.
After approaching the waters south of the southernmost province of Ca Mau early on December 26, the system continued declining into a low pressure zone.
At 7 a.m., the zone was located south off Ca Mau province. Wind power reduced to below level 6 moving less than 40 kilometers an hour.
In the next 24 hours, it will mainly move west, continue weakening and gradually fade away.
Coastal areas from Ba Ria-Vung Tau to Ca Mau have seen strong winds and rough sea. The tropical depression in combination with a cold front in the north has made the waters off central provinces from Quang Ngai to Binh Thuan choppy.
The southern region of Vietnam continued seeing medium yesterday. Provinces in south and mid central regions have experienced heavy rains which might last in 2-3 days.
The rain might expand to mid and north central regions late on December 26.
