The 30-kilometer section of Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway opened for traffic on April 6, shortening the travel time from Hanoi to Hung Kings Temple to one hour.
The section was built to ease traffic on Highway 2 from Hanoi to Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Yen Bai and Lao Cai.
Vietnam Expressway Corporation hosted the opening ceremony celebrating Hung Kings Anniversary on April 9.
Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway opened 110 out of 245 kilometers of the project for traffic. It is expected to complete by the end of this year to become the largest expressway in Vietnam.
The 30 kilometer section is the final phase of the bidding package A1. The project includes eight bidding packages with total investment capital of VND20 trillion (US$1.2 billion).
