Traditional Day of the Border Guard Command

The visit was to mark the 52nd Traditional Day of the Border Guard Command and the 22nd anniversary of the All People's Border Guard.

City leaders inspected the progress made on the two patrol boats being built for the Border Guard Force. The city has financed the boats at a total cost of nearly VND30 billion (US$1.36 million) which are expected to be in operation on May 19 and June 5 each.

Earlier, Lt.General Vo Trong Viet, Political commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, took part in a meeting with more than 500 veteran border policemen. He awarded 163 people the “For the national border security and sovereignty” medals.

Additionally, a concert titled “spring at the border and Comradeship” was held at the HCM City Military Theater which raised over VND5 billion (US$250,000) for the Comradeship Fund.
