A trading investment promotion seminar, in the framework of the visit of HCMC People's Committee, was held in Belgium with the participation of enterprises and politicians of Belgium and EU.
The seminar was organized by Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and the Belgian – Vietnamese Alliance.
Bilateral economic relations between Belgium and Vietnam reached over US$413 million in 2013.
As of June, 2014, Belgian investors have poured over US$8.55 million into 21 projects in HCMC. As a developed country, Belgium is experienced in city planning and infrastructure construction.
In his visit to Belgium, Chairman Le Hoang Quan met Van Rompuy, President of the European Council and some others diplomats who have close relationship with Vietnam.
Chairman Quan said Van Rompuy’s visit to Vietnam in November, 2012 bring the friendship relations and multifaceted co-operation between EU and Vietnam or EU and HCMC to a new height especially in trading.
Concerning to China’s illegal placement of its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone, Van Rompuy expressed his support to Vietnam’s peacefully settle disputes in compliance with international law.
At a music performance titled “Look towards the country’s sea and islands”, Chairman Quan said that the government and Vietnamese people are determined to protect the country’s sovereignty and request China to withdraw its illegal oil rig. Vietnam will try to keep peace for further development.
Chairman Quan highly appreciated contribution and love of Vietnamese people in Belgium towards the country.
