Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, Huynh Duc Tho said that Da Nang has played an important role in the transport in the central region.
Da Nang City’s port system, including Tien Sa and Son Tra, is estimated to handle the enormous volume of goods of about 8.4 million tons in 2018, exceeding the seaports’ capacity, causing traffic jams, affecting environmental pollution and the city’s tourism development.
Lien Chieu seaport project covering on an area of 220 ha is expected to ease burden on Tien Sa Port. The project costs a total investment capital of more than VND32,860 billion (US$1.4 billion).
The first phase of the construction with a capital of over VND7,370 billion is expected to be completed by 2022.
PM praised the socialization policy in the construction of the Lien Chieu seaport project by the local authorities and the Ministry of Transport.
He asked the municipal authorities and relevant departments to make report to clarify investment procedures of the project.
