Survey says patient dissatisfaction of dirty hospital toilets

Toilets and bathrooms in hospitals across the country appeared to have a particularly low satisfaction rating on hygiene, according to a nationwide survey of patients carried out by the association of Vietnam Initiative and the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment in 29 facilities.

At a meeting “Reducing time for waiting in hospital and rest rooms hygiene improvement” yesterday held in Hanoi, Vietnamese Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien spoke the survey results.
Patients dissatisfied with dirty toilets in hospitals, long wait time to get into see a physician, to take medicine and to pay charges.
Head of the ministry's Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Luong Ngoc Khue said that through the survey conducted in 2017 showed that eighty percent of the washing facilities in medical clinics is rather clean while 18 remaining ones are very filthy dirty without soap while just a few hospital toilets had highest ratings.

The Health Minister said the Ministry has classified hospital toilets from one to five. Additionally, the Ministry will add toilet cleanliness as one of standards to rate hospital quality because unclean toilets will spread diseases amongst patients to patients.
Hospital managers proposed to add fee for hiring cleaners into hospital charges.
