Six modern slaughterhouses to run in HCMC

Ho Chi Minh City will put into operation six modern slaughterhouses with total capacity of 13,000 pigs a day as per a plan of the city People’s Committee.

Specifically, there will be two abattoirs in Xuan Thoi Thuong ward in Hoc Mon district with designed daily capacity for the first phase of 2,000 pigs and Tan Hiep Food Processing Company with daily capacity of 3,000 pigs.
Four other slaughterhouses will locate in Cu Chi district. Abattoirs include one in Tan Thanh commune with daily capacity of 2,000 pigs; one in an abattoir in Cho village in Tan Phu Trung commune with capacity of 3,000 pigs a day; one in Vo Van Bich street with capacity of 2,000 pigs a day and the other in Phuoc Thanh Commune with capacity of 1,000 pigs a day.
Additionally, Vissan Company will operate an abattoir in industrial park in the Mekong delta province of Long An with daily capacity between 2,500 and 4,000 animals.
It is scheduled that by 2020, total capacity of slaughterhouses is around 15,530 pigs a day ( or 1,052 tons a day ) and 300,000 poultry (or 450 tons of meat a day) and 300 cows a day ( or 45 tons of a day ) to meet dwellers’ demand.
