As many as seven fishing boats were sunk and swept away in the territorial waters of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province due to giant waves and fierce winds lashing the area on December 17-19.

The province’s residents own six of the boats, and the other is from the central province of Binh Thuan.
The province’s border soldiers, naval forces, rescue forces and local fishermen have combined together in the search for the missing men.
They have found 24 fishermen from four boats and are continuing to search for the remaining 26 fishermen from the other three boats.
20 of the 21 members on the BV 4248 TS, owned by Nguyen Lam in Long Dien District, have gone missing and yet to be found.
Two other boats, with three fishermen on each boat, have gone missing since December 17.
