Early yesterday morning the 12 fishermen rescued by the Philippine navy were flown into Ho Chi Minh City to later board a bus to their hometown, in the central province of Quang Ngai.

All the 12 fishermen, hailing from Binh Chau Commune in Binh Son District of Quang Ngai Province, were hit by a storm at sea while out on their fishing boat on July 24. The boat’s engines failed completely and they were left to float aimlessly on the Philippine waters. The naval forces from the Philippines rescued them and took them ashore on July 29.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines, Nguyen Vu Tu visited the Palawan Island Province on August 17 to pay his respects and express his gratitude to the Philippine naval officers for saving the lives of 12 Vietnamese fishermen and complete procedures for their return to their homeland.
