The statistics are calculated based on the incomes of computer users whose work is interrupted by troubles caused by viruses.

On an average, every computer user lost VND1.23 million a year. According to the White Book of IT and Communications, viruses infected 6.98 million computers nationwide and caused VND8, 500 billion in damages.

Bkav warns that e-mail containing a link to a fraudulent web page and malicious codes on cell phone will continue to attack personal computers in 2015.

Cyber crime costs the global economy about US$445 billion every year, with the damage to business from the theft of intellectual property exceeding the $160 billion loss to individuals from hacking, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)’s research.
