Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, head of the National Cybersecurity Steering Committee, chaired the committee's regular meeting this morning.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security in a hybrid format, connecting with 34 provincial and municipal cybersecurity subcommittee members nationwide.
At the meeting, the Steering Committee's Office presented a summary report on the committee's activities and the work of cybersecurity subcommittees under ministries, agencies, and local authorities during the first six months of 2026.
Participants focused discussions on coordination and data sharing, improving the effectiveness of efforts to combat cybercrime, online fraud, and money laundering, protecting customer data, and strengthening cybersecurity and data security to support digital Government and urban data systems.
In his concluding remarks, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung commended the efforts of ministries, agencies, local authorities, specialized cybersecurity forces, businesses, industry associations, and experts in safeguarding cybersecurity. He said their contributions had helped maintain political stability and public order, advance digital transformation, and strengthen national digital trust.
Reviewing the first half of 2026, the Prime Minister said national cybersecurity efforts had achieved significant and comprehensive results across multiple areas. He noted clear progress in leadership, direction, and institutional development, including the restructuring of the National Cybersecurity Steering Committee and cybersecurity subcommittees within ministries, agencies, and local authorities.
The Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense have completed draft decrees detailing implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection, the Law on Protection of State Secrets, the Law on Digital Transformation, and the Law on Artificial Intelligence, among other legislation.
Relevant agencies have strengthened their capacity to monitor, detect, warn of, respond to, and protect critical information systems. They have also enhanced Government oversight and effectively countered harmful information and activities by hostile forces targeting the Party and the State. Public awareness campaigns on cybersecurity for individuals and businesses have also produced positive results.
The Prime Minister said efforts to combat cybercrime had also achieved notable results, while research into new technologies, workforce training, and international cooperation had all made further progress.
Looking ahead, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung instructed the Steering Committee and its Office to strengthen their capacity for unified nationwide direction and coordination, improve joint cybersecurity response capabilities, and review and refine operating regulations, reporting procedures, and command and coordination mechanisms between the Steering Committee and its subcommittees in ministries, agencies, and local authorities.
He also called for continued improvements to the legal framework and related policies, as well as the comprehensive and coordinated implementation of cybersecurity measures to address obstacles encountered during implementation.
In particular, the Prime Minister instructed the committee to closely align its work with the Central Steering Committee's implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. He said cybersecurity efforts must be directly and continuously integrated with the implementation of tasks under the resolution, especially those related to securing the national digital architecture framework and national data security systems.
