After receiving intensive care in two days, health condition of two patients in the dialysis incident in the central province of Nghe An has recovered; however, medical experts have not verified the real cause of the case.
Regarding the incident in the General Hospital in Nghe An resulting in patients with kidney failure suffering fatigue, high blood pressure and fever, Head of Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co yesterday said that the hospital sent a team of good physicians to the infirmary in Nghe An to help their peers and transferred the patients to Bach Mai Hospital for further treatment.
Two of three patients were in serious shock and organ failure while being transferred to Bach Mai Hospital though they received treatment in Nghe An, Dr. Co said.
Medical workers of Bach Mai Hospital still kept an eye on the patient in Nghe An while providing treatment on two in the hospital who have no longer suffered shiver with cold but slight fever.
According to Head of Bach Mai Hospital’s Dialysis Department Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung, physicians in Nghe An provided correct emergency procedure as per the Ministry of Health’s guideline. Competent agencies had taken samples of water for dialysis in Nghe An for testing.
The Department of Health in Nghe An has set up a scientific council for the incident.
Before, on July 30, physicians of the General Hospital in Nghe An were discovering 6 patients on dialysis to experience fatigue, high blood pressure and fever. Patients were soon rushed to intensive care unit for emergency treatment.
Three were in stable condition while one was treated in the hospital and two were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi for further treatment.
