Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong called on the Party Committee members and people of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces on January 13-14 to offer Tet greetings and wish them on occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the Vietnamese Communist Party.

At a meeting with key officials and people of Quang Nam Province on January 14, the Party leader wished them a happy lunar New Year and success in implementing the various socio-economic projects in the province.
He reminded the Party committee members and local authorities to pay more attention to the lives of people in their province.
Earlier, the Party leader visited Tam Phuoc Commune in Phu Ninh District of Quang Nam Province which was selected for the pilot project for building a new rural development area and has already successfully fulfilled 18 out of the 19 required criteria of the project.
He also visited the revolutionary relic site in Song Tra Commune in Hiep Duc District in Quang Nam Province, where he lit incense in memory of Vo Chi Cong, late Chairman of the State Council and also visited poor households in Tinh Ky Commune of Hiep Duc District.
The Party leader met with people of ethnic groups in the three poorest mountainous communes of Song Tra, Phuoc Tra and Phuoc Gia and presented gifts to 88-year-old Vietnamese heroic mother Do Thi Thang, revolutionary veterans and needy families.
He also visited people in Tinh Ky commune in Son Tinh District in Quang Ngai Province. He offered gifts to two poorest households in Tinh Ky commune.
Meanwhile in Hanoi, President Truong Tan Sang met with writers and artists to wish them a happy lunar new year on January 14.
He said their talent, tireless work and creativity had contributed greatly towards preserving and promoting the nation’s invaluable traditions and culture.
He hoped that as fighters of ideology, writers and artists will continue to join hands with other professions to help implement the country’s tasks and targets for 2012 as per the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress.
Also on the same day, President Sang paid a visit to Professor Vu Khieu, who at the age of 97 is working on a three-volume book on 1,000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, a project that he has pursued for the last 10 years.
