According to the Department of Preventive Health , the number of people suffering from the red eye disease or conjunctivitis has recently increased in Hanoi and other provinces in the north.
The Central Eye Hospital has been receiving around 200 people each day who come in for checkups or treatment. People have been asked to maintain personal hygiene and take preventive measures like avoiding contact with others.
The hand-foot-mouth disease is also pandemic across the country with 2,000 cases being reported each week. Currently the northern region alone is coping with 29,358 cases.
In Vietnam more than 70,000 people have contracted the hand-foot-mouth disease, with 38 reported deaths in 15 cities and provinces, out of which 34 were in the southern region alone.
