The blaze was deemed to abruptly break out in a bush and spread to the nearby lubricant warehouse in Thoi An ward, district 12 at 6:30 pm, causing great fear amongst locals in the neighborhood.
They tried put out the blaze with fire extinguishers but their efforts were unrewarded because the material was highly flammable. Many residents living nearby fled for fear of fire spreading.
Shortly after informed of the incident, police in District 12 and firefighters rushed to the scene. The authorities had to cut off power in the area to ensure safety and assist firefighting operation.
The fire was fully contained at 10:00 p.m.
The cause of the fire and the damage level are under investigation.
