Nha Trang Gets the Nod to Host 2010 Miss World Contest

The government has given Khanh Hoa Province the green light to hold the 2010 Miss World pageant in Nha Trang, deputy chairman of the province People’s Committee, Le Xuan Than, said.

The Government Office has told the province to cooperate with the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, other official agencies, and the RASS group to make preparations for the event.

A delegation of organizers will travel to South Africa to watch this year’s Miss World pageant from November 16 to December 12.

Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, Julia Morley, and chairman of RAAS Company, Hoang Kieu, signed a memorandum of understanding two months ago for organizing the event in Viet Nam. RASS will provide around US$10 million.

Miss World, held for the first time in 1951, is the oldest surviving major international pageant. The annual telecast of its final competition is the world's largest live beauty pageant television event with more than two billion viewers in more than 200 countries.
