Of which, cage fish farming households along Dong Nai River suffered the biggest loss as thousands of tons of fish were dead or lost with total loss estimated at hundreds of billions Vietnamese dong.
According to statistics of Dinh Quan District, four communes, including Phu Vinh, Phu Tan, Thanh Son and Ngoc Dinh, were affected with more than 5,000 tons of fish dead and escaped, worth VND220 billion.
Thanh Son Commune experienced the worst damage with 14 floating fish farms being swept away by floods, 224 being affected, causing nearly 3,600 tons of fish to be dead and break free into the river, worth around VND140 billion. Ngoc Dinh Commune had 55 floating fish farms being carried away by floods, 250 being influenced, 533 tons of fish and other properties being damaged, with loss estimated at above VND22 billion. Tan Phu District had nearly 600 tons of fish being killed and 58 floating fish farms being swept away, losing around VND55 billion.
It is reported that Dong Nai Province had to evacuate 869 households out of dangerous areas and nearly 1,600 hectares of farm produce crops were flooded in this historic flood. A man was missing during the flood and his body was found in the afternoon on August 11. Local authorities have been struggling to support flood victims to tackle the consequences of floods and resettle.
