Three Vietnamese behind this organization have been prosecuted for performing unauthorized migration services and acting as unauthorized intermediaries for migration services, said the Investigation Agency under Nghe An’s Police Department.
Speaking to SGGP’s reporters, victim Tran Khanh Nhung said she paid a total of US$22,439 to the two heads of this illegal agency, named Thanh and Anh, for what she had thought would be a legal visa to Australia.
“I got stuck at their appointed countries of transit for months but could not get on any flight to Australia”, Nhung recounted. Her attempts to ask for the money back from Thanh and Anh were to no avail.
Vu Thi Binh, another victim from Nghe An said her family had to give the agency US$36,200 to have Australian visa procedures done, but still could not get her 18-year-old son to the land Down Under. Instead, the boy was kept at Malaysia in unacceptable conditions for almost a year while “waiting for a flight to Australia”.
Another agency that SGGP’s reporters became aware of was called Intercoop.vn based in Vinh City, run by a woman in Nghe An named Dam Thi Truong.
Victims of this company all shared stories of how they became indebted after failed attempts to apply for Australian visas through Intercoop.
The company had been relocated at the time of this article and Truong cannot be contacted.
