Many schools in Ho Chi Minh City are currently quick to build more schools for the new academic year as the number of students enrolled in them up to a tense level.
HCMC’s Tan Binh September 3 inaugurated the new primary school Ngoc Hoi. After 9 month construction, the school can receive students for the new school year. The new school costing over VND19.5 billion (US$ 867,554) has 12 classrooms and other rooms including labs for studying foreign languages library, medical rooms and rooms for learning computing. The school will receive 445 students for the new academic year.
Meantime, administration of district 1 is trying to call for social contribution to expand and build more schools for the new school year 2015-2016 to meet increasing demand. The district opened the preschool 30-4 with total expenditure of over VND26 billion (US$1,156,740), expanded Junior High School Nguyen Du with investment capital of VND19 billion (US$ 845,310); and started constructing two new schools including primary school Ket Doan and primary school Le Ngoc Han.
Additionally, the district repaired 49 other schools for the new school year with total expenditure of VND26 billion (US$1,156,740). However, the district is under the pressure of fast increased number of students and the limited land for building school; so the districts hardly reached the national standard classrooms.
For the past academic year, HCMC’s Tan Phu District exempted tuition fee and supported 602 students from low-income, ethnic minority, orphans and children of families in the top welfare brackets with total of VND450 million (US$ 20,020).
